Hon, Make Me A Card Please!

Posted: 13 Jan 2009 05:40 AM PST

Oh you lazy slob! You can expect that comment, coming your way this Valentines'! Christmas you scraped through…thank god for that designer cashmere you got her. But come February, you're going to need more than just roses and champagne. Too late to join art classes buddy; might as well DIY with The ___ Cards.

You don't need to get mushy or spunky, just pop a few holes and the job's done. Just like that! In a jiffy!

This is what the designers have to say about The ___ Cards:

“Imagine a greeting card that does it all. Perhaps The ___ Cards fits the bill. It’s all in your hands. What you have is a blank canvas. With a little creativity and imagination, who knows what you can create? There’s a card for every occasion. Make it special. Make it personal. Make it your ___ card. “

20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

I’ve been itchin’ to use that cliche title for ages! Feels good to get that off my chest. I digress, the AQUA is obviously a submersible but one designed for exploration, fun, and possible a future when humans live in the oceans! This single-occupancy craft sails both on and under water using all the normal submersible tech like air to control buoyancy.

Aerodynamics are a priority so thanks to our friends the dolphins, AQUA will have you chasing deep ocean waves just like flipper without all the drag. Fun aside, do you think humans will eventually inhibit the deep oceans? Will personal submersibles provide the mode of transportation for future oceanic super highways?

Protect Your Identity, Tear It Off

Posted: 13 Jan 2009 03:20 AM PST

I get loads of mail from PR agents and designers and at times spend 5 minutes trying to peel an address label off a box, either because I’m going to reuse it for return shipping or just to protect my identity before going to the recycling bin. It may seem trivial but identity theft in all forms are on the rise. Digging thru trash for people’s names and addresses is step one to a highway to hell for you as a victim.

The Tear Off Label is simple. It’s pre-scored to make obscuring your address a lot easier. Forget peeling (that never works), forget markers (that’s messy). This is one idea that’s easy to execute and cheap enough to produce into mass production.

Multi Layered Music System Packs In All

Loosely translated Yoga means, "to unite the spiritual side and the worldly side of a being". I don't know about the spiritual, but this mechanical Yoga does unite quite a few functionalities into one. Its your iPod dock, mobile phone dock, CD player and amplifier all rolled into one. Inspired by the raindrops falling to the ground, it bears a seamless design that pulls out from the core central to the sides. You won't need to head to the hills to practice this one!

Tip Light Not for Use with Kitties

Posted: 13 Jan 2009 01:49 AM PST

When you receive your very own tip light, don’t forget the following rules: 1. You may not have any small children in the house if you’d like constant light. 2. The same is true of cats, puppies, and relatives on holiday. 3. this tip light is actually called “Ataton”, and like most products posted here on Yanko Design, it is a concept, and is not for sale!

Ataton is as it appears. Tip it one way and it’s on, tip it the other, and it’s off! Of course you’ve gotta be careful not to hit it on accident. Or, maybe that’s your intent! Maybe you could make up some Ataton light-games!

Begin all potential/silly uses for Ataton below. Go now!

Fold Out Boxes Add A Bit Of Class To Lunch

Posted: 13 Jan 2009 12:00 AM PST

While few lunchtime experiences can best a classic superhero inspired box, these foldout gourmet lunch boxes by Emma smart definitely go the distance. Winning her a D&AD Yellow Pencil in packaging design, the challenge was to categorically separate the boxes while maintaining an overall sense of visual unity. Now if only there were one with a licensed fictional character I could pretend to be during lunch, my life would be complete.
