Houseboat Colony For Oslo

Posted: 26 Feb 2009 03:47 AM PST

Now I know that houseboats are a specialty of Amsterdam, but designer Espen Erikstad thinks otherwise. He feels that something like the Loup de Mer is what Oslo needs and that too for the student community. Ha! I can picture all the boys and girls getting all studious and cramming for their term papers over a round of fish and chips! I don't buy this story one bit!

For an individual unit, the concept of this houseboat looks pretty neat and spacious.
It's a duplex with ample living quarters and a colony of them co-exiting till the holiday season sets in.
For a student accommodation, it looks very extravagant.
For a globetrotter like me, I would love to spend some time on this!!

Coffee Addict Writes About Tea

Posted: 26 Feb 2009 03:24 AM PST

The good thing about YD is that you get to cover stuff that you may not really enjoy, but heck if it's a great design, why not share it with others. For instance many of you readers must be addicted to your java to get charged, but will that stop you from appreciating Enso Tea Percolator? Keeping with the traditional sensibilities of brewing the perfect cuppa, this three-piece tea percolator works pretty much like the moka espresso pot.

Designer: Jeffrey S. Engelhardt

Here's how to make your fix:
Water in the bottom cup boils over a stove and rises up to the mid-section. This section also acts like a filter and is the place you keep the tealeaves. After you're done with the brewing, just pour the drink straight up from Enso.

You won't scorch your hands dears, cause the whole this is wrapped with a classy piece of wood.
Glass and wood is a neat combo, but it doesn't guarantee a tasty cuppa tea!
Wicked! Try some espresso then!

Bar Is On The Wall Dude

Posted: 26 Feb 2009 02:41 AM PST

You're not drunk enough, but this bar is really on the wall. Although I don't drink but if I were to make a bar at home, it probably would be something like this Lounge Bar. I mean look at it; it's more like this classy mantle/shelf thingie where you showcase your trophies. Prized possession like a vintage wine or Dom Perignon White Gold Jeroboam! All your cherished liquor bottles sifted and stowed in three different temperature zones; now isn't that alcohol haven!

The service area is positioned to the far left of the bar, and that's because the lids to the individual compartments open upwards with the help of hydraulics. Open them all up, display and impress your boss with Dom. Romane Conti 1997 and the likes.
I wonder what will my bar hold…diet coke I guess!

This Car Got One Fat Lip

Posted: 26 Feb 2009 12:01 AM PST

Oh you’ve made a car have you? Pshaw! Anyone can do - you designed it in 30 days? It must be terrible! Oh, for your 30th Anniversary, you say? Much better! Oh I can see it? Can’t wait to see - oh. Oh my. That is sleek looking! And no doors? Oh and it’s bluish-purply - Prince approved! *Flash Forward 9 Months*

Two Doors!? White?! Hulk-smashed?! Oh my goodness!

If you’re an avid reader of Autoblog, you might know about the I.DE.A ERA Concept car, which, as I so parodied above, was put together, concept to model, in 30 days, commemorating 30 years of the I.DE.A Institute! Well, now, what do we have here? It’s an updated model.

Open topped and big faced in the front and back. Looks like someone took a whallop. Gull-wing doors (I love it!) plus a monstrously strange trunk as its psychological rear feather. And as Autoblog speaketh, so shall this car be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show next month. With maybe some more of that blue-purple paint?

Travel Chomp Chomp Chomping

Or juice! And you can put whatever you want with it. The top of this container is for the liquid, the bottom is for whatever you want to mix with it. The top seals shut and the bottom seals shut too! Are you a yuppie or are you a construction worker? Or are you a graphic designer? Or a professional wrestler? You’ll all love designer Arjan Brekveld’s little cup.

It’s called the “Fresh Traveler” : for it, Brekveld recommends breakfast cereals and fruits, while I recommend goldfish crackers and cola. Don’t mix mine though! Mix the combos Brekveld recommends.

Materials:
Stainless Steel, High-grade plastic
Measurements
ΓΈ 9,3 x h 18,5
