Classy Water Stopper

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 05:14 AM PST

When I first spied the WaterStoppingWater, it felt like déjà vu, simply because it has this uncanny resemblance to the DROPPA carafe by Ozgur Onal. Now I'm not going to get in to the bickering of who inspires who; the bottom line is that WaterStoppingWater has a very fluid design and represents a sink stopper in a very chic way.

Camping With Consciousness

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 04:37 AM PST

It's all hunky-dory to go camping with a trailer till you need to get to the cleaning part. From what I know, very few really enjoy cleaning up the sewage and trash that they generate on the spot (unless you opt for a trailer park where amenities are available). The other alternative can be tugging on the C3 Hotel Cube that takes care of your every comfort. A mobile hotel with sewage storage option, so that you can do the cleaning up later… after the party is over!

The Cube employs clever use of opening panels to give you the feeling of open spaces, within its limited confines. The simple interiors and limited amenities are solar powered.

I don't have a camper trailer, but I'm pretty sure that if I were to get one, it would be on similar lines.

Malcolm Frontier Mojito Wallet Review

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 01:18 AM PST

Only $20! I bet that caught your attention. It’s no joke. The Mojito Wallet is available at a reduced priced direct from Malcolm Fontier. If the name isn’t familiar – the company makes vegan (synthetic) leather soft goods with lots of style at a fraction of the price. Male readers can probably empathize with my wallet woes. I carry a bulky leather wallet big and heavy enough to change the way I walk. The Mojito is one of the slimmest wallets I’ve seen and for $20, there’s no competition around.

The design is quite simple. To achieve slimness you have to sacrifice space. Instead of carrying 10 cards you can only carry 4 or in my case 2 cards and some cash. That’s usually all I need on a day to day basis. I took the Mojito to Disneyland for a trial run. The bungee strap kept my credit card and ID secure in the center slot. The secondary slot held cash and my fast passes. Downsizing was a joy. Bulky-butt syndrome (an overstuffed wallet in a back pocket )was a distant memory. I didn’t miss my regular wallet at all. The Mojito didn’t stretch and sliding things in and out was easy unlike the $80 Tumi slim wallet I had. The PU material and stitching are top-notch and it doesn’t give off that nasty rubbery smell.

$20! I’ll say it over and over again. It’s a perfect gift. It may not replace your main wallet but it’s great for occasions when bulky-butt is prohibited – say dress slacks. Buy one for yourself, a boyfriend, father, friends – anyone who is in dire need of bulky-butt syndrome.

Your Car In 2030

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 12:49 AM PST

Envisage a futuristic vehicle that draws inspiration from the beautiful and organic shapes of nature and blends it with advanced ec0-technologies, making the cities healthier. Intended for ultra-crowded cities of 2030 and beyond, the Bionic concept car runs on solar energy generated by a see-through polycarbonate roof with attached solar photovoltaic cells.

Featuring advanced and optimized materials (EAP-electro-active polymer layers) to change its shape in order to fit the varied needs of different users, the futuristic car also integrates advanced in-wheel motor technology, Nano PV cells and lithium ION battery for zero carbon emissions. Since the electric motor is placed within the wheels, the car can rotate on a sharp 360° angle with minimum fuss. The sustainable vehicle also includes an interactive display that allows the user to watch and control the vehicle's reshaping options, GPS navigation and music player, while the modification zones are placed into the seat surfaces to control the expression of the seats for better comfort.

A Wally Oasis

Thinking about how ecology plays a role in urban spaces is a re-emerging trend in design. The Symbiotic Green Wall takes the idea of wall beyond its dividing role. It provides a vertical system for an entire ecosystem to exist. The wall collects, purifies and redistributes water around the site using natural processes. A digital monitoring system sheds light on water usage and overall health. It even cleans itself with purified water. I would love to see more of these sculptural installations in big cities around the world.

What Pot is This?

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 12:15 AM PST

So you’d like to relax in your bathroom. Seems pretty reasonable. Do you like flowers? That’s good, because that’s today’s solution to your relaxation problem, and it’s presented by 2-B-2 Architecture. Turn your bathroom into a lovely pottery barn with these bits of WC furniture – fine to see, fine to touch, fine to… use.

How do these lovely pots work differently from other bathrooms with flowers on them?

To empty the water in the toilet, you simply put a bit of pressure on the lid. Takes away a whole step, right? Same thing for the faucets – they turn on with a light tap. I imagine you’re used to washing your hands in sinks in malls and restaurants that use this energy-saving “timed” device – one touch, a bit of water, done. The bathtub – that is normal. As normal as a bathtub that looks like a flower pot with flowers on it can look.

In this set there’s a toilet bowl, a bidet, a sink, and a bathtub. Upon installation of these flowery items, extra flower decals are applied or painted into the bathroom area.

It’s Called Jogging

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 12:10 AM PST

Or yogging…apparently you just run. What is the exercise you speak of? You need to get your heart rate up. And not just with a tall glass of coffee. You’ve got to get out there and run around like crazy. But that wont work! You’ve got to have a nice healthy jog to get your body in shape. But your music doesn’t go with the feet moving! Until now! Clip the “Joggo” device on to your shirt and the headphones into your ears and the beats will be keeping you in check in no time flat.

I used to be a cartpusher. That means all those carts you use in the grocery store, the ones you leave in the middle of the parking lot, the ones that you put your gum under the pushbar of – those are what I collected. I listened to music in my headphones while I pushed – and more often than not, it was heavy metal. Cartpushers often latch on to heavy metal music because it gives them the power they need to push 50 carts, 50 carts in a row, 50 carts in a row all at once.

But what do you do when you need rhythm? What do you listen to when you’ve got to get a gradually increasing pace going? Get one of these things right here! “Joggo” clips onto your shirt and uses a GPS system to calculate your average distance per stride. Using that, and using the distance and timing the user programs in, the Joggo system plays music into headphones (or earplugs, or whatever you may call them) encouraging you to reach a target pace.

Conductive and consistent musical rhythms are pumped into your ear receptors, playing gradually faster as you reach your target pace. Upon stoppping, the rhythm begins again, making you GET GOING!

Concerning Wooden Mice

Posted: 23 Nov 2009 12:00 AM PST

You use a mouse. Even if you have a laptop, you’ve USED a mouse, and when you go to the Apple store, I bet you use one of those giant computers with mice to check your emails. I mean I do that, right? Yes I do. And when I do, I think about how plastic the mouse is. What do I want instead? This lovely piece of design right here: the “AlestRukov” wooden mouse! Plug-n-play!

First let me tell you this: five year warrantee. A wooden mouse with a warrantee – finally! Then, look at this: made from types of wood cultivated specifically for industrial use, safe for the environment to manufacture and to use. The parts that aren’t wooden are made of the least amount of material possible, the wood itself covered with natural linseed oil and carnauba wax for protection from wear.

All wooden components made from a single piece of solid wood.

Mouse works in any* computer without new software or drivers. *unless you’ve got one of those custom-made, everything needs a new line of code and a hundred dollars to work kind of computers. You nerd.

BONUS: Also take note of the unique mouse cord. It’s a sort of “stay” cord that allows you the space you need in the situation you’re in.
