The LMacTouch: Perfect Desktop for a Perfect World?

Posted: 12 Nov 2008 03:17 AM CST

When you think “modern computer,” you think size, portability, functionality, and case aesthetics. What else? The LMacTouch has the good stuff. It’s got a touch screen, major-ly adjustable screen, green features, and it’s pretty!

Why isn’t this a production model?

Designer Mayyen Chan makes it simple:

The LMacTouch is like any other touch screen desktop but with a few exceptions. It is ergonomically designed to be flexible for comfort of the user. There is also an energy function that offers an option to the user to use solar energy as a power source.

A few questions:
1. Does an optional solar panel make this an official “green” concept?

2. Why hasn’t Apple made a model with these capabilities yet?

3. Does it come with a keyboard, or do I have to spend a months pay on one again? For crying out loud! A keybord! They don’t make em like they used to. That turned into more of a comment than a question. On another note: any [keyboard] suggestions?

Also: be sure to view the video for a full walkaround.

Suspended Over Water

Posted: 12 Nov 2008 02:05 AM CST

Do you want to take the ultimate lunch break? Forget the Gehry’s tad-overdone (sorry) Conde Nast cafeteria in New York City; head to Bangkok to the Octospider. It is a corporate cafeteria that elevates the act of eating to new heights (ouch these puns hurt, I am truly sorry). Suspended over the water with delicate concrete and steel legs, the cafeteria has three wings that spread out, giving each seat a view in every direction. It’s designed by Exposure Architects, based in northern Italy.

Where Have All the Collapsables Gone?

Posted: 12 Nov 2008 02:05 AM CST

A time-honored challenge. An elegant design solution. The Fil Quadrat Design Team brings us the NewFuTi for dining and after-dinner coffee. Collapsable to two configurations, the NewFuTi is good for more than just the diner on the go: it’s togetherness in both forms makes for a fitting bit of furniture in any persons living situation.

Wood metal and screws make for an inexpensive (maybe) piece of furniture while it keeps the aforementioned elegant look. And it’s foldy!

Designers on the Fil Quadrat Design Team collapse:

Time to dine, not enough space on the right height… “NewFuTi” is a coffeetable that changes to a dinning table in one smooth and simple move. Its dimensions change from 33 cm to 75 cm (height) and 110 cm to 190 cm (length).
