Suck On This To Know How Hot You Are Posted: 25 Mar 2009 04:43 AM PDT Shush you naughty minds, I'm talking of this candy lollipop called SO SWEET! It's your usual sweet that you suck on, but the twist is that the stick in it is actually an electronic thermometer. All you scared people who dread sticking the mercury tube in your mouth, here's a sweet alternative for you. Besides using it as a thermometer, apparently other medical tests that require saliva samples can also adopt this sugar-coated treat! Posted: 25 Mar 2009 03:03 AM PDT This is not another story about an MP3 player that looks groovy, has jazzy features and is full of it. It's the story of a player that addresses the issue of older generation coping with technology. The Sony concept that we see here features a simplified interface with keys that are clearly laid out and raised. The screen is high contrast, with light text on a dark background rather than vice versa, making it easy to read. It basically targets the elders who enjoy listening to music but are bogged with stiff fingers (arthritis), poor vision and fear of complicated gadgets. Quick tech-specs reveal a radio, 4 to 8 GB of storage and an ergonomic design that is easy to clutch. The player is larger than usual, (much like large touchpad telephones) and the buttons on the top of the player and functions like a remote control. |
Posted: 25 Mar 2009 02:59 AM PDT There’s this whole movement about bringing back nature into the concrete jungles we’ve built in the past 100 years but this is probably the most direct yet indirect way of doing it. Those painted line dividers we see everywhere serve a huge purpose but in an attempt to humanize and naturalize them, designer Ji-Hye Koo covers them with Nature On A Tape - essentially a pre-potted strip of grass that’ll grow with no effort. It’s sculptural and 3-dimensional but who’s gonna trim it tho? Designer: Ji-Hye Koo No Tags |
Posted: 25 Mar 2009 12:53 AM PDT Typical Indian housewives are an addicted lot; they are addicted to their daily cup of chai (tea)! As the clock strikes four in the afternoon, every household gears up for that addictive brew and woe beholds that woman who misses her tea! I have actually seen my numerous aunts and mom go through stages of depression, headaches and withdrawal symptoms coz they missed tea thanks to an afternoon spree in the bazaar. Tea in the Sahara for Two sang Sting, I demand Tea4Two in the middle of Chandni Chowk! If you are addicted to the brew then you may as well carry this portable electric kettle designed for on-the-go tea drinker! Magnetic snap-up cups with handles, allow you to brew, serve, and consume the beverage using traditional style teacups. Great news is that it features a retractable electric cord, so messy long wires are not a problem in this design. How to make your tea? Designer: Ben Peterson No Tags |
Auto Zen Garden for a False Nirvana Posted: 25 Mar 2009 12:03 AM PDT Man, everyone knows you’ve got to rake the sand yourself. What? Unless you’re from the Roomba generation of Buddhist monks. Then you’ve got to get yourself affiliated with the Studio FRST crew. They’ll whip you up a set of “Jardin Impatient” or what I’d call Auto Sand Gardeners. You’ll never have to pull sand to be at peace again! What a relief! Time for a nice sit. The only statistical information we’ve got on these contraptions is the images below, and the poem at the very bottom. All very pretty to behold. I bet Studio FRST consulted with the R2-D2 scientists to figure this one out, after all the sandcrawling he had to do in his day. Fun patterns, too, huh? Plus, most importantly, this reminds me of a classic cartoon clip. I’m certain that if they really are silent, one man above all will be satisfied. Freakazoid. Designer: Studio FRST No Tags |
Posted: 24 Mar 2009 12:14 PM PDT This sinister looking black cube may look like pandora’s box but it’s really just a set of wireless speakers that can be positioned anywhere for optimal surround sound. Altogether there are 5 speakers and 1 woofer. They’re held together in cube form by the power of Voltron magnetism. The woofer’s top is a volume controller and itself is the main base unit that charges the other speakers. Designer: Ji-Hyung Jung No Tags |
