Posted: 04 Feb 2010 01:30 AM PST I'm very possessive about the books I own and very rarely lend them. I'd much rather display them on a bookshelf them hide them in cupboards. The Slim Book Case fits in perfect to any home or office environment and suits those who love exhibiting their collection. Sounds perfect for me! Adding a unique touch to your wall décor, the only flip side is that in the Slim version you can show off only 10-12 books (in 8 slots) at a time and the Demi Slim holds only 4-6 books (in the 4 slots). Posted: 04 Feb 2010 01:15 AM PST So you don't want to join pencil stubs and make a long pencil. No worries, we have another alternative, how about using them to print on paper. Yes, like a printer that uses pencil to print your documents. Traditional don't you think? I feel the concept gets even more radical because it proposes the use of eraser to erase off mistakes! Do I hear my office scream in delight; no more cartridge woes! Designers: Hoyoung Lee |
I’m Totally Confused Between Digital And Analogue Posted: 04 Feb 2010 01:00 AM PST This is the mish-mash of a Digital And Analogue Clock and aptly named the same. Typically digital clocks represent time in ciphers and analogue clocks indicate time using angles. Seen here is a concept that portrays the transformation of digital clock into analogue, when the numerals become blocks that display the time. These instants when the location of the blocks is changing can be explained as analogue concept. Hmmm, interesting…but do you think so as well? Designer: Hye-Yeon Kim |
Posted: 04 Feb 2010 12:10 AM PST This is a red stool that you and I and everyone else can get behind. It’s a red stool that’s nice, neat, and ain’t gonna fall down on ya when you’re sittin (or even standin on it.) It’s called the Nido and it’s designed by one Eva Marguerre. It’s meant to look fragile, it’s built to be tough. And at 900 grams, Marguerre’s claim of “light as a feather” isn’t far off. These seats are constructed of fiberglass drenched in resin. Marguerre developed a production procedure that connects and wraps each of the fibers in different ways. So! Starting with the basic model, each stool evolved “to playfully contrast the flexibility of the original material.” Super pretty cool yes? Then, consider the plus features of the resin itself: it makes the stools weatherproof as well as fade resistant, making them ideal for sitting right on the balcony or in the garden. We Are The Living Room… We Are The Future Posted: 04 Feb 2010 12:01 AM PST We are the furniture! Actually there can be only one. This project is called “I Am Furniture” and it asks not what furniture is, but what it could be. What makes something a definitive bit of furniture? Design Studio VRAAY says it could be quite a few things – plug. and. play. Big fat heaters for chairs. Oh man but wouldn’t they be hot? Hot on the butt! Yes, if they worked like these heaters normally would. (I’ve got one in my apartment right now (the old kind) and it gets HOT.) But these ones work on electricity, running on “a reduced electrical heating component made for tomorrows ecological ecological standards.” In doing so, these chairs work in basically the same way an electric blanket does, centralizing the heat to the person who wants it, rather than heating up the whole building. Posted: 04 Feb 2010 12:01 AM PST Designed by 2-B-2 Architecture to be a reflection of the Biblical story of Noah and the Ark. To describe it, 2-B-2 chooses a refuge on the top of Mount Ararat in Turkey. This refuge consists of two levels. First is the entrance and parking for over 1000 cars. This area spills over unto the human areas, allowing avoidance of cheerless urban landscape and prevents the strong heating of the vehicles. At the entrance is the short term parking, and further in longer term for goin on into the buildings for bigger business. There, people can visit the Intercontinental hotel, 101m in height consisting of 28 floors with the presidential suite right up top. Residential houses in this complex take up 16 floors, 60m in height are contained by two apartments 200 and 220m2 in area on every floor. Up top are suites and lofts 400 m2 in area. In the way these apartments/living spaces have been planned, the people living in them will not be limited by anything but the size they’ve been given. Ownership is blessed with the nearby office center, trade center, and business centers, all accessible at the first level in the parking area. So. It’s possible that it’s basically an ark. Of course you’ve got to consider that in effect it’ll be just like a tiny city, owing to the fact that you’re gonna need imports and exports, but look, it’s amazing! Total area: 41408 sq.m Designer: 2-B-2 Architecture |
