Want To Write For Yanko Design?

Posted: 01 Aug 2008 03:31 PM CDT

Thanks to readers like you Yanko Design is growing fast. If you’ve ever wanted to write for us now is the time because YD is looking to expand its staff. Connected to the student base? That’s even better. Part of working on an innovative ID editorial team means research and today’s innovations usually come from students.

You must possess the ability to translate loquacious and long winded descriptions into meaningful, clever, humorous laymen’s terms. You should be able to find or create your own content. Got an opinion on the ID industry? Speak your mind. That’s the kind of stuff we want to read. You’re probably used to YD only writing about concepts but as we grow, we want to expand. That includes concepts, product reviews, industry news coverage, and opinionated editorial pieces.

These are paid positions so apply only if serious. If you live, breathe, and dream design as we do, please apply, we need:

• Three sample posts
• An introduction and why you're interested in design and writing about design
• Your resume
• Your contact info and scheduling, including a ballpark number of posts per week
• Your rate per post

Once your application is complete, please email us.

Air Purifier For Any Size Space

Posted: 01 Aug 2008 03:29 PM CDT

Air purifiers have experienced a massive revival in the last 5 years but one thing they all have in common is the inability to dynamically scale to different size spaces. The Daan (Korean for column) is a small disk sized unit powerful enough to purify a small room. You stack more units together to clean a bigger area. You can even detach one unit and take it for travel.

Made from fabric and brushed aluminum meant to blend in harmoneously with most decors, it even had mood lighting functions. I’m sold. Where do I get one?

Decked out decks

I remember when I was just a young lad, my skateboard was practically fused to my feet. It was seriously a part of my body and would often skate from my bedroom to my kitchen just to get a bowl of Coco Puffs. A skateboard is a very personal possession and I would go to great lengths to “customize” it to death with stickers and colorful wheels. Well the days of limited customizability are gone forever with these jaw dropping skateboard design by Corbus Boards. Dispensing with standard wood, these aluminum boards weigh about as much as a standard long board and can be cut to any design you like (as long as your design allows for proper foot placement). Somewhere between trick board and long board, these boards are not for riding rails but seriously tricked out regardless.

Rabbit Hand Mixer, Why Not?

Posted: 01 Aug 2008 03:23 PM CDT

Hand mixers are pretty boring to look at but this RabMixer by Ming Tong transforms the auspicious cake making requisite into a cute bunny just inviting you to make oodles of yummy foods. It comes with a number of presets for milkshakes and cakes and like any other hand mixer, speed and power are also adjustable.

Sure it seems frivolous but who says we can’t make our appliances cute? Now as to whether or not this actually looks like a rabbit or a baby dinosaur is up to you.

Designer: Ming Tong
