I Call Him Recyclor!

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 06:17 AM PDT

One person’s recycling is another person’s garage sale. One person’s trash is another person’s jewelry construction. Take a peek at this collection of recycled jewelry by Indregru. Several different constructs for several different purposes, and oh my goodness, a photo shoot with the ladies of the recycling plant!

For the project final presentation photosession was made in the recycling station. Women in photos are the EMP operators working on waste sorting line. They are those who first make contact to the materials from which these accessories were created.

I love it! This should also be put on all those “made” sites I’d say. But then you take a look at them, and wows, they could be manufactured! The only hand-made part would have to be the collecting of the trash! They’re genius of course, and the photo shoot - fabulous.

Come Fall In Love With Appliances

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 02:48 AM PDT

A family of appliance designed especially for Italian brand Bialetti, The Linea Pura Range is what I want to call supersexylicious! Black against matte steel finish is always a winner, plus incorporating latest digital techs and calibration, always makes appliances lust-worthy. The lineup includes a weighing machine, toaster, blender, juicer, and food processor. I love all of them! Take a look just for product-design's sake.

Firefly Madness!

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 12:01 AM PDT

This guy, the guy who designed this lamp “Random Orbit,” he’s got a great signature. You should definitely check it out. In fact, it’s in one of the images in this post. See if you can find it! The lamp in the post is just splendid too. A 32inch ball of firefly inspired lights flying in, out, around, and through. Just like knitting! They’ll be made in a buncha sizes!

So the center aluminum sphere is 2″ in diameter. The 21 rigid loop end (RLX) bulbs (the fireflies) are 12V/10W, high efficiency and long life they are. They’re attached to a bunch of spring tembered phosphor bronze loops.

And if/when they go into production, each one is going to be made by hand, sculpted meticulously to replicate the hand of reality. It comes with a dimmer and oh my goodness, each lamp provides 210 Watts of 360 ambient light. Ampin’ it on up.

I need more light. Firefly light.

Don’t Panic Just Yet

Posted: 16 Sep 2009 12:00 AM PDT

Given the current terror scenario across the world, it's only natural instincts to get panicky if the lights blank out while traveling by the underground train. It could be a normal technical snag, but we fear the worst, and rightly so. Coaches are generally equipped with emergency lights, but something like the Emergency Handle Light can give the commuters a lot more confidence to deal with the situation. It's the overhead handle re-designed to fit in a flashlight at the end. The handle easily comes off at the push of a button and the flashlights come to life only when the lights go out in the train.

Mirror Mirror On The Wall

Posted: 15 Sep 2009 08:26 AM PDT

The new Aluminum Series Mirror by Sonia eliminates the need for a separate magnifying mirror. A magnet is placed on a pendulum behind the plate glass mirror. This magnet attracts the magnet, which is concealed into the mini Magnifying Mirror, allowing users to slide the small mirror anywhere on the large mirror. When not in use, it can be pulled off the surface and stored away.

Pardon my language but why the hell hasn’t someone come up with this already? I love it! I was actually just shopping for a magnifying mirror this weekend and they suck. The ones that swivel from the wall require bolts. The table top ones feel odd to use because you have to bend over to even see yourself. Brills Sonia, brills!

Between Art and Work

Posted: 15 Sep 2009 08:23 AM PDT

Traipsing along a fine line of an artist’s work area and a craftsman’s work table, the L.O.F.T. Workstation effortlessly balances between the two. It’s shortlisted for a Helen Hamlyn Design Award and can be seen at this year’s 100% Future Show Design London. Quite the achievement - lets take a closer look.

The workstation is an adjustable platform designed to be customized for anyone and everything is included; surfaces, lighting, shelving, screens, boards, etc. Assembly is easy in the IKEA way with cable management too. I love how the design can easily fit in an art studio or home office without compromising the design.
