Monitor Your Power Diet

Posted: 19 Jan 2010 05:55 AM PST

Diet charts are hard to monitor, but keeping a tab on what your power-hungry gizmos is not so cumbersome, easy in fact. You need stuff like the DIET WATT system to do the calculations for you. The DIET WATT_Sub keeps a tab on the plug of the gadget and displays consumption info in real time. It transmits the readings to the DIET WATT_Main, which is the hub of info and calculations for all your appliances. The idea is that the results will put you on this guilt trip and encourage your to conserve rather than squander our resources.

Love Pot is HOT!

Posted: 19 Jan 2010 03:08 AM PST

A brilliant design with good intentions is always a winner. For the design part, Love Pot is a non-electric humidifier plus aroma dispenser. It has this tissue ball made from laminated wool felt to maximize evaporation in limited volume. Another point in favor of the wool felt is that it absorbs water fast, and launders well. For the intentions part: this $30 pot is for the Nanum project, where 100% of the profits go as charity to provide educational scholarships to impoverished children. That's what I call Design with a Conscious!

The Rest Goes to the Dry

Posted: 19 Jan 2010 12:15 AM PST

These water bottles are missing some water! Approximately 50ml out of every 500ml bottle. The rest is collected and sent to countries that have the little-helped but terrible problem of a lack of clean water. Can you imagine life without clean water? No showering, drinking makes you sick, cooking food is out, et-cetera, et-cetera. Terrible. This water’s all about the graphics.

Along the top of the bottle (the place where the water’s obviously missing) has graphics that tell the tale. To notify the consumer, ideally to get them to join in on helping further than the bottle.

SITENOTE: A good documentary to watch about this water situation and its effect on the world is “Blue Gold : World Water Wars.” Peek it out!

Saloon with No Drinks

This car is a wild missile for heck. It’s the 2017 Alfa Romeo Executive Fastback Saloon. What a mouthful! What an eyeful, you’re about to witness. Designer Jacob McMurry’s whipped up this magic machine to compliment the Alfa Romeo 8c Competizione in Alfa Romeo’s return to the North American market.* In this project, inspiration’s drawn from Carnevale di Venezia, aka the Carnival of Venice.

*This project was done before the Fiat/Chrysler partnership.

All glass roof, smart glass panels. These smart panels have the ability to go all opaque or transparent. Helpful if you’re Batman, or if you’re Dexter Morgan. Lines drawn directly from Italy, drawing inspiration again from the 2900B Type 35 racers of the 1930’s.

Power plant: Diesel V8 with rear wheel drive, optional bio-diesel conversion.

**As for the title of this post: this car may look like a fancy club, all elegant and seductive, and it’s name is Saloon, but it’s just a car! You’d better be in your garage if you plan on drinking in it. Be safe!

Foldable and Re Chargeable

Posted: 19 Jan 2010 12:01 AM PST

Employing its very own lithium-ion-polymer battery, the “BiCX” recharges with human power. Both with pedaling and with free-riding (as in when you’re just coasting your way down a gigantic hill.) Using the power is the fun part though, of course. You reap what you sow. Both a cruise mode and a booster button. A booster button!

There’s three modes:

Cruise Mode: for cruzin. As soon as the user begins to pedal, the bike assists. The e-motor uses the power you’ve stored up during recharge mode.

Recharge Mode: the battery in the bike charges only, done with pedaling or down-hill-riding.

Boost Mode: pressing the booster button acculturates the bike. The button is on the left handlebar, and only works when the battery is 15% or more charged up. Do not try this button unless you are Pee-Wee Herman instructed and certified to jump over houses.

And of course it folds!
