Posted: 13 Aug 2008 02:00 AM CDT Waiting for a public bus in any town can be not only mind numbingly boring but a very uncomfortable experience. In bigger cities, sharing a bus bench/bed with a passed out drunkard is not uncommon. For those not even lucky enough to share these precious moments in life and have to stand and wait for our environmentally responsible public transportation, I present the “Duv-tal” public transportation insta-squat seating system by Catherine Pena. If you forget to bring some reading materials don’t fret, this fold-down seat not only lets you cop a squat but also validates in the form of this inspiring message printed on the surface "You are a role model. You are actively improving the environment by riding the bus." Warm fuzzies all around. Designer: Catherine Pena Catherine Pena |
Martini Glass to Compliment Bombay Sapphire Posted: 12 Aug 2008 03:29 PM CDT Bombay Sapphire is pretty unique with a delicate botanical flavor. Of course the most luxe martini drink demands the same from accompanying glassware. Benjamin Hubert has designed a martini glass to reflect that aesthetic. Hand blown and shaped, this martini glass evokes the organic and botanical sensibility of Bombay Sapphire. Of course when not in use, turn the glass over and use it as a coat rack for your hamster! Designer: Benjamin Hubert The following images illustrate the process. 1. Shaping the molten glass. 2. Blowing the bowl into a cork mould. 3. Shaping the bowl. 4. Adding and shaping the glass for the stem of the vessel. 5. Maintaining The temperature of the Glass. 6. Adding and shaping the ‘Root System base’. 7. Maintaining The temperature of the Glass. 8. Adding the decorative root system. 9. Final Adjustments. Benjamin Hubert, bombay |
Posted: 12 Aug 2008 03:24 PM CDT The 2008 Olympics in Beijing are arguably the best Olympics in recent history. If you’re just dying for a piece of the action, why not a memento that looks right at home in the festivities. This lacquered red clock looks likes a traditional Chinese talisman with each hour on the face represented by one of the 12 major Olympic sports. Designer: QianJun Gao QianJun Gao |
Posted: 12 Aug 2008 03:23 PM CDT Audi meets audio…who doesn’t love a good pun? Especially when it is as good looking as this iPod inspired Audi designed by Ondrej Jirec, a design student from the Czech Republic. His concept Audi design takes the great American past time of making your vehicle into one giant rolling boombox to new heights. This bad boy features the mother of all audio systems with internet connectivity for downloading music onto the built-in 650 GB hard drive, a Bluetooth system for connecting two or more Audi O cars together, making for the largest rolling club ever. Best yet, it comes completely decked out with a couple of DJ decks and mixer. Look for this master blaster in the next installment of The Fast and the Furious Deaf Jam.
