Multifunctional Is The Key Word Today

Posted: 08 Apr 2009 01:28 AM PDT

Shame on you lazy lumps who can't multitask! It's the era where we need to be multifunctional, multi-everything! That rule applies to our batteries as well; if they only juice-up our devices then they are no good, they need to double up as something more. Like this IF-battery, it powers your devices AND has pins on the side that pop out, and plug into a socket for recharging. This does eliminate the need for a recharging station, but it also means you can charge only one battery at a time.

Where’s The HotSpot?

Posted: 08 Apr 2009 12:20 AM PDT

An imperative question when you are looking for some free internet access! I have a device for you here, that will turn you into the Water Witch, HotSpot Witch! Divina detects WiFi spots and allows you to expand the network by amplifying the signal thanks to the built-in hi-range sensors. The form of Divina is clearly inspired by the magical stick that Dowsers use. My only request, don't go as crazy as them in the middle of the airport when you detect strong WiFi signals!

Divina automatically starts searching for a wireless hotspot and the LEDs on it come to life when they detect the signals. At the prime HotSpot it turns into an antenna enhancing the signals further.
Easy enough steps for you to become the Wicked Wireless Witch!

Inflate the Wave Fantastic

Posted: 08 Apr 2009 12:01 AM PDT

Hello again, Extreme Sportsmen-and-women. It’s not far off; that lovely season when the whole of North America can jump in the water and splash about wildly. Here’s a toy that boat and super-fast pontoon owners can look forward to. It’s the “LULU1.” Super steerable, fun, bright and colorful for this midwest-lake fashion season. It’s the “first” inflatable tow-able watersports toy that you can do tricks on. Turn a 180, 720, 6120; whatever strikes your fantasy.

*I say “first” tricks-ready-inflatable because I might have happened to do a flip on a regular tube one time a few summers ago, maybe I didn’t. Noone can really confirm, not even me.

As you can see, you can do quite the tricks on the LULU1. Snips and snaps and turns and flips and flaps. Here’s some important trickery points from the designers at “Sportsstuff Inc.:”

VEER Towing System
Rocker Bottom Design
Tiger Tooth Spinning/Steering Fins
Aluminum Quick Connect Tow Point
Multiple Grab Handles with Knuckle Guards
Speed Safety Valve for Fast Inflation and Deflation

The LULU1 is the first in what appears to be an entire line of what Sportsstuff called “Doables : Controllable Towables.” Complete with single- and multi-person towables, plus accessories; this tube wont pop.

Sow Your Seeds, Grow Your Veggies

Posted: 08 Apr 2009 12:00 AM PDT

The idea of DIY VeggiePatch is to get involved in the process of growing vegetables for families and communities and in some ways nip food miles, packaging, food processing, and flood irrigation at the top of the food chain process. The project proposes to reduce eco-footprint by using materials like cardboard, banana paper and tire crumb to construct the patch. The pros of the patch include eliminating the need for transportation, refrigeration, and storage of vegetables plus the health benefits of organic food.

The VeggiePatch is versatile and fits perfectly in any environment. Basically what you are doing is getting individual pockets of pots, and growing your own veggies. You don't need to own garden space for this, any amount of space, big or small will suffice. The base patch can be bought by the meter, in 30cm increments, off a roll or sheet. Its size and contours depends on what you require and you get to chose from four base contours. Modularity also allows the garden to grow and be expanded or transported from one location to another with flat packed components.

VeggiePatch has the capability to vermicompost food waste within each one of its pockets, closing the loop in the food cycle. In a meter long patch one can cultivate 15 pockets of veggies. To maintain this sized patch one will require to water it for 10 minutes and this will consume approx 12.5 liters of water, which is more than sufficient for most vegetables. The irrigation system makes use of the drip irrigation method whereby the drippers can be adjusted to control the flow speed of water. The slow rate of water flow allows all the water to be absorbed by the soil, removes spillage and reduces evaporation.

The seeds for the plants come in specialized package made from recycled paper pulp, and soy based dyes. Called the SeedDisks, they eliminate the need for excessive packaging, and provide nutrients for seedlings as they grow. The SeedDisks protect seedlings from animal and insect attack at infancy, keeping them grounded during windy weather. They also prevent overcrowding of seeds when you sow them.

The open source design of VeggiePatch allows it to evolve organically and freely, reaching even more urban gardeners and communities.

Electric Dream Machine

Posted: 07 Apr 2009 06:25 PM PDT

Is that the cross section of a Foo Fighter? No way, it’s a tattoo machine. It’s the newest tattoo machine. It’s the best. It’s weight is less than a third of the average machine. It’s carved out of solid aluminum. It’s much less painful to the tattoo collector than the classic machine. It’s got two methods for mayhem: while it’s the first air-powered tattoo machine in the world, it’s got an attachment which allows it to also run on electricity as well. It’s the “Neuma Hybrid Tattoo Machine” pokin’ through.

The Fear. The common consensus amongst fear-based citizens of planet earth is that getting a tattoo would be totally scary. It hurts to get a tattoo. It rips your flesh apart! With the Neuma Hybrid, you’ve got a bit less to fear. The unique process with which the ink is bonded with the skin allows for significantly less pain to be administered en route.

The weight. An excellent, aged, greasy, strange, ink-covered tattoo artist has gotten used to the weight of a tattoo machine, whichever one they use. The new artist, especially those with a dainty hand, will have 2/3rds easier a time lifting the tool and keeping it steady. The tool is extremely light.

Double down. The most versatile ink-spitting machine thus far. This post is on the second edition. The first was only air, which was wonderful but not as feasible for the traveling tattoo artist, as air compressors aren’t especially airplane-friendly.

Here’s the sleekness. See all the pics and read the press-release paragraph below, and tell us if you’re still petrified of permanence.

Better Cutting, Better Cleaning

Posted: 07 Apr 2009 11:03 AM PDT

A combination of form and function, the Bamboo Appetito is a cutting board designed to reinvent conventional food preparation. With traditional boards you have to sweep waste off to make room for more food. The Bamboo Appetito solves this problem with a split cutting surface and track running underneath that conceals a stainless steel utensil tray.

The cutting surface easily slides open to give quick access to the tray and slides closed to conceal food waste during use, eliminating the messy transportation problem. Additionally, the juice trough will never overflow because it continuously drains into the utensil tray. When you’re finished using the cutting board, simply slide the two cutting surfaces off the tray, easily remove the food waste, and wash. It is an asymmetrical form that was designed to be easily manufactured. Bamboo Appetito is made from bamboo and stainless steel.
