Win A DNA Mini Portrait This Valentines Posted: 10 Feb 2009 05:12 AM PST The moment of truth is here. Do you love her/him enough to give an everlasting gift, one that can never be etched away? I would even compare it to a tattoo because it’s so damn permanent. Cards we throw, candies we eat, jewelry, books…the list is endless but ultimately they are just transcendent gifts of glory that slowly fade away. In this ever-changing world the only thing permanent is the very fiber of our being, our DNA. As a declaration of our sentiments it’s only appropriate to gift something as permanent as this to the ones we love. Would you want to gift this amazing DNA Mini Portrait to your Valentine? Just leave us a comment on how this DNA Mini Portrait would make a difference to you and your Valentine. One lucky winner will win this $225 DNA Mini Portrait, and a get a chance to make a permanent difference in their lives. Ends Feb 14th. Sponsor: DNA 11 No Tags |
Precise Measures While Doing Interiors Posted: 10 Feb 2009 07:44 AM PST If you failed math in school or hated triangles, this theory may go bouncers on you. I'm not giving you the Pythagorean theorem to prove but simply telling you of this handy device that could get you the perfectly angled walls and smooth looking interiors. The Red Point Measure is a digital measure that applies current laser ray measure techniques to mathematics formula of triangles by simply measuring a target from afar. Comprising of two detective arms and a red light this is how the instrument is used: Do away with the climbing up and down to the target, or asking someone to help you to measure big or long objects. Simply DIY! Designer: Huang Qiaokun Huang Qiaokun |
Ship Of The Desert Is Your Doc On Call Posted: 10 Feb 2009 02:50 AM PST It's the modern times and in urban areas we are just a phone call away from the nearest emergency medical service. However in the remote regions of the desert-scape Flying Doctors are not always available. How do you get the necessary First Aid? No worries, design student Fresch has it all figured out with his emergency dromedary concept that sees the trusty old camel of the chieftain coming to aid with a doc in tow! This camel-trotting concept involves a "baja" and a "seji". The baja is a lightweight contraption that can seat the respected doctor, and the seji is a framework structure that is essentially meant for the sick person but can also double up as an equipment carrier. Using a plug-in system, the necessary transformation from a box carrier to a stretcher happens in a jiffy. A little bit of use of technology is essential however, you will need to call the doc on his phone to summon him; the camel-baja outfit along with the inbuilt GPS system then track you and hurry on to administer the First Aid. The Mother Of All Water Filters Posted: 10 Feb 2009 01:20 AM PST The Rehydr8 is an eco-friendly water filter and chiller system that was designed to discourage the consumption of disposable water bottles and promote filtered tap water. The chiller uses the innovative technology of thermoacoustic refrigeration, using sound waves to create pressure and environmentally friendly gases to create a cool surrounding temperature. And YES this concept was actually thought out. A pair of reusable bottles made from durable and translucent polycarbonate are supplied with the Rehydr8 appliance. Each bottle features a built-in and powerless thermometer, made from thermochromic plastic, to display the water’s temperature, making it easier to have perfectly chilled water every time. Would you buy one? Although the thesis behind this concept is intriguing, one argues why this does any better than cartrige filters in water pitchers and even faucet attachments. Both provide quality drink water without the need for power and a minimal costs. Designer: Justine Smith No Tags |
Would You Confuse Them For Pool Balls? Posted: 10 Feb 2009 12:17 AM PST I know I would! The Field Roamers are illuminated spherical objects that are a product of experimentation with the primary goal of seeing how "light bounces could affect the appearance of geometry with varying surfaces in low light." The lights have no explicit moving parts but their illuminated tracks and the obvious form indicate that you could just roll them along the surface. Cool roving lights I say! Posted: 09 Feb 2009 09:25 AM PST The I-Quad uses tile shaped LED electronic boards held together by a simple frame and interacts with external devices via USB or wireless. Each tile is capable of a low-res, almost dot matrix-like resolution. Essentially anything can be displayed across these tiles; from communication, entertainment, even ambient lighting. I like the idea in concept. Wireless connectivity makes it quite useful say if I wanted to leave a note to a family member - a few key strokes on my computer and voila, message appears on the board. I’m not keen on its size because it seems unnecessary. A smaller board with a far more dense pixel resolution would have been much more intriguing to me. Digital Jeeves Can Get Me Anything! Posted: 09 Feb 2009 09:19 AM PST Ok people, you got to humor me for this one. Travel with me into the future where we are so dependant on technology that we don't even trust our secretaries to get us the bagel or coffee right! It's the future where bots and machines share a better relationship than humans, and have more Contacts in the Right Places to get us access to exclusive events and restaurants…simply at the click of a button! Kicking the human Jeeves out of our life and replacing it with the Digital Butler…does this sound fun or what! Agreed this is just a concept for now, but lets see what do we get from it…. - It will work on advance 4G networks with GPS, giving it connections to all the swankiest spots in town. This also means future Paris Hiltons and Lindsay Lohans can expect gatecrashers at their parties! Essentially does this mean that in the future we will have to rely a gadget with allied services to get us through to big party scenes? It sounds a bit presumptuous…but if you're that wealthy and connected you will sail past the bouncers in any case; you wont need no gadget to help you do that! On the flip side, if a wannabe lays his/her hand on such kind of technology, it could be the turning point of their lives. What do I say…. sounds nice…looks good, but I still need some convincing.
