No Cartoon Hill Too Comical for this Buggy Posted: 12 Feb 2009 12:24 AM PST How many times have you watched a silly cartoon where a stroller or buggie rolls away from a mother, only to be narrowly avoided by an oncoming vehicle? Like a billion, probably. In less wonderful news, this sort of thing does actually happen. And quite often in Australia, according to designer James William Wansey! So he’s made this fantastic little device to stay the cart! What this little contraption does is sit inside the wheel (or in the bigger scheme of things, it is part of the wheel in a UGO stroller), while its paired controller is held by the parent. If the parent’s controller gets too far away from the stroller, the device pumps the brakes. The distance? Two meters. Wireless communication between the device and its controller. Brakes powered by the rotation of the wheel, device completely contained within the hub of the wheel. So that means no more baby buggy races or bank robberies, baby Finster! Grass Patch That Tells The Time Posted: 12 Feb 2009 12:24 AM PST It's always an educational experience to see what's in store for us as far eco-friendly products go. Joining the green brigade is this Timeless Garden that looks at bringing in a green patch and clock to match your décor. Using the chemistry between mud and metal, the clock sustains itself, without craving additional toxic juices. The frame is a hitch between by two recycled plastic bodies fashioned as a pot/clock. Indoor plant with a self-sustaining digital clock….hmmm…I'm just wondering what will be the outcome if I happen to over-water the plant. Guess that will ruin my go-green aspirations! Posted: 11 Feb 2009 08:38 AM PST Everyone talks about going green, consuming less, conserving and recycling. But for heavens sake will, SOMEONE tell me just how do I go about knowing which room is consuming extra energy? If in a community, how do we get to keep tabs and monitor the consumption of all the houses? The answer is quite simple actually; get someone to manufacture what Rocco has conceptualized. O.e.i is an OLED touch screen light switch that represents all your misgivings. The display of this device is quite interactive and tells upfront how careless or good you have been as far as energy consumption goes. The animations and graphics show singular as well as multi-information on usage. The switches receive and send information using radio frequencies and use the existing network of power lines connecting homes and power plants. They say don't peek at what your neighbor is doing, but something like the O.e.i will make you conscious, and give you plenty of reasons to get back at those annoying power-wasting-next-door-snobs! Thus the community tracker has this wicked benefit! In all, Our Energy Information tries to give you a realistic feedback on your energy consumptions. The average standards of consumptions are set based upon the number of occupants and the size of the house. I think this standard is pretty fair. The only thing left to be done is conserve a little bit more! Designer: Rocco Avallone No Tags |
