Posted: 04 Aug 2009 04:24 AM PDT The general referral to “sex toys” is always a crass, overrated innuendo towards dark guilty pleasures. Adding a certain degree of maturity and respectability to this industry is the Genesis line of products for Luxury-Pleasures. Inspired by the theory that God created the world in seven days, this collection includes seven deadly sins that will break the shackles of missionary and treat you to untold ecstasies. For each day of the week you can assign your special erotica and play God yourself. Original Text: On the first day God created light. Dildo, hot wax candle made with white beeswax and silver base. The second day God created the sky. The choice of colors is very particular: The blue sky representing Virgin Mary. She is often depicted with a blue coat called maphorion. Green is also used to represent the Virgin with the Child Jesus. The red roses are a symbol of virginity. Blind fold inspired by the stole of the priest. On the third day God created vegetation. The ring symbolizes the union between God and Man. It is made in black ebony like most Black Madonnas. These figures are associated with rites of fertility and sexuality. The choker necklace is made specifically with thirty three links like the Rosary of Precious Blood which contains thirty three grains referring to the years of earthly life of Jesus. On the fourth day God created the stars. Horn inspired by the crescent moon, symbol of regeneration. Moses is often depicted with horns symbols of strength and wisdom, which are also symbols for the Devil and destruction. On the fifth day God created birds and fishes. Inspired by St. Francis who talked to birds and animals, and who wore a scapular (devotional necklace made of small pieces of fabric that some priests wear on their chests and on their back on top of their clothing). The rooster feathers symbolizes the arrival and resurrection of Jesus. In medieval liturgy, priests used a broom made of feathers (flabellum) to sweep the air and symbolize the heavenly powers who supported Jesus during the night of his death. Necklace for caressing and tickling; made in solid silver, pink gold and rooster feathers. On the sixth day God created Man. The marble refers to death like the altar in the church represents the Holly Sepulchre. It contains 39 braids, the maximum number of lashes in religious punishments in Jesus' time. The whip is made with human hair with silver ligatures and Carrara marble. The seventh day is the rest. The diary starts with the first 7 days of Genesis written by St. Jerome, from the first printed edition of the Gutenberg Bible. It is followed by 365 pages to write a diary about your own sins and fantasies. Designer: Jacobo Muñoz |
Cool Catty Eyes Are Better Than Designer Shades Posted: 04 Aug 2009 01:53 AM PDT Imagine the soccer ball aiming straight for your eyes instead of the net. It sure is not the best day to show-off your new Armani shades. Crash, Bam and broken shards of designer glasses! Easy remedy anyone? Safer and wiser to use: The Optimal Vision Color Contact Lens that are NOT COSMETIC, but act like sunglasses. Shades of green, yellow, red and grey prim your eyes up and offer sunglasses protection without the risk of injury. Oh, n keep the volume low when you watch that video; I got nothing for torn eardrums right now! Designers: Jin-young Yoon, Jun-kyo Lee & Young-ho Lee |
Posted: 04 Aug 2009 12:00 AM PDT Touch Color is the combination of a Thermal digital tablet and a Rainbow Color picking ring that allows a blind person to paint colorful pictures with his fingers on the tablet. The 24 colors on the ring are differentiated by Braille dots and varied temperature generated by the embedded LED bulbs. Artistically inclined or not, this concept of "Blind Color Painting" sure sounds like technology is heading in the right direction. Make It Right, Rebuild New Orleans Posted: 03 Aug 2009 11:20 AM PDT Even years after hurricane Katrina, the city and people of New Orleans still need help. This year Siggraph is being held in the city and as a rallying call to all creatives, I want to challenge you to make a donation to the Make It Right organization. They’re working with world renowned architects to gives these people what they’ve lost, livelihood, security and safety - a home. The SIGGRAPH Graphics Pioneers, an organization formed by scientists, engineers, artists, and industry professionals active in computer graphics since the inception of SIGGRAPH, have adopted a house being built by the Make It Right Foundation. There is no minimum amount required, donors are asked to give what they can afford. Together, let's help Make it Right again. Donate directly to the Make it Right Foundation, The House that SIGGRAPH Pioneers Built. Join the SIGGRAPH Graphics Pioneers Facebook Group and encourage your friends to donate to the cause. Make It Right, a collaboration between actor Brad Pitt, Graft Architects, Cherokee Gives Back and William McDonough + Partners was founded in 2007 to help rebuild the New Orleans Lower 9th Ward, an area that was completely wiped out during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The Make It Right Foundation is committed to building 150 energy efficient, solar powered, storm resistant homes in the 9th Ward of New Orleans, and the SIGGRAPH Graphics Pioneers want to help. “We have had wonderful experiences in New Orleans for the SIGGRAPH conference," said Kathleen Maher, vice president, Jon Peddie Research and a member of the SIGGRAPH Graphics Pioneers. "However, the devastation Katrina left in its wake is unfathomable, and unless you've seen it firsthand, it's really hard to imagine. The SIGGRAPH Pioneers encourage the graphics community to band together and help support the victims of Hurricane Katrina by helping New Orleans return to its former glory," continues Maher. "Every dollar counts to help 'Make it Right' for those families still trying to recover from such the devastation." Progress on the Make It Right house will be announced at the SIGGRAPH Graphics Pioneers dinner, however, the group will continue fundraising after the conference. Jon Peddie Research is an active supporter of this project and will recognize significant donors on their site. To kick off the donation drive, Jon Peddie Research will be donating $200 from every market report it sells during the month of August 2009. Donate: Make It Right |
Biomimetics Gone Bad In A Good Way Posted: 03 Aug 2009 10:10 AM PDT M.S.Q.T.O. is a quad bike inspired by the irreverent blood sucking mosquito. The rider sits higher than other all-terrain vehicles for a better vantage point to pick out your next prey. The entire package is very compact with an aggressive stance. Even the placement of the legs and wheels invoke an image that gets me to swatting. Designer: Vipin George |
