Punch A Knife And Some Forks

Posted: 25 Nov 2009 05:53 AM PST

To keep this story short, Bamboo Slips for Picnic is a very practical usage of bamboo and hemp, which results in this sheet of press-out cutlery. The thin sheet of bamboo features cut-outs of spoon, knife, and fork. Naturally you would use this disposable set at picnics or in school, office or on the go. The cool part is that you can creatively use the remainder portion as a coaster, a fruit plate or something equally imaginative.

A Practical Screw

Posted: 25 Nov 2009 05:16 AM PST

Who wouldn't like a screw…umm screwdriver that's practical! The Big O in this concept is that its offers better grip, with the handle swiveling a cool 90 degrees to stand perpendicular to the metal shaft. Now if you want to read a deeper meaning to this post, be my guest…because phrases like "force can be applied with a much stronger grip" and "toughest screws can be tightened more easily" makes me think of double meaning stuff!

Keep Guessing!

Posted: 25 Nov 2009 04:50 AM PST

Another round of guessing shall we?

Today's hint is that this definitely won't bite but it picks on YUMMY Stuff!

You know the rules…be honest and leave me a comment as to what you REALLY think this is; DON’T CHEAT…coz I TRUST you!

Why, this is the Does And Serve Pasta Cutlery! Kudos to those who got this right! This piece is made out of one piece of elastic plastic and has a double purpose: Serve the Pasta and Measure it from the back end.

Here's how it works:

  • Pull the spaghetti out of the package, to almost half the length.
  • Place them between the handles as close to the corner as possible and press gently, allowing the pasta to spread across the ridges.
  • Release you grip a little and pull out the desired number of portions.
  • Each individual group represents a single person portion. Release the handle and let the rest of spaghetti slide back into the pack.
  • What makes the Pasta doser different from other of it’s kind is that the measuring process is done on the fly, without the need to separate portions by hand. This not only makes portioning easier by removing any guess work, but also saves time and prevents us from cooking too much food, that will inevitably go to waste.

Four Straight Boxes and One Crooked One

Posted: 25 Nov 2009 12:15 AM PST

This is anything you want it to be. This thing right here is called “Twisted.” It’s a console table. It’s a wall mounted display cabinet. It’s a Vertical Bookshelf. It’s a space rocket! -wait, wait, it’s not a space rocket. But it could be if you put cats in it! And it all comes down to that one box. That one, crooked box. That box makes the whole world go haywire.

That box. That box that is crooked? It is twisted. That box is offset on 3 different axes, intersecting with the adjacent cubes, just sitting there, being all different.

IT’S CHAOS I TELL YOU!

Projection in Orbit!

Posted: 25 Nov 2009 12:12 AM PST

You communist! You love projectors too. It’s been 52 years since the former USSR launched Sputnik. In celebration of the fabulous designtastic shape of the Sputnik, and due to the meaning of Sputnik: “traveling companion,” this entertainment companion is sure to get your eyeballs and mind straight into outer space – tout de suite! It’s a projector with a cuteness!

This design goes by the name “Mint Sputnik” and it’s just super cute as all heck. Not only does the projector look just like an alternate-reality Sputnik I, it’s got a little space center controller!

It’s got all your normal controls – on/off, next/previous, angle/focus/channel/volume, but then it’s got a quick clock switch, radio and music functions as well. Also a 1950’s feel. That display screen looking thing there is an actual display screen, info is shown in black and white on it, and it’s got the classic Cathode Ray Tube TV panel BULGE. On the control center’s backside there’s a USB port, SD card slot, and earphones jack. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ZigBee are all supported.

When not in use by parents, a child TV it will be.

When not in use by kids, a cat clock it will be.

When not in use by the cat, off it’ll be.

Entertainment’s Future is to Sit on

Posted: 25 Nov 2009 12:01 AM PST

Adric Henkel’s go the future of public furniture and home entertaining all figured out right here with a single seat. It’s what basically amounts to a projector and an image collecting seat back – the simplicity of the concept’s where this shines hard. Henkel sees a future where furniture is interactive on a whole new level. Uncontrollable and wild images on the backs of chairs is just the beginning.

Henkel refers to Phillips Lumalive and E-Ink as a couple inspirations for future furniture. In the example of his you see below, it’s less about interactivity and more about entertainment and advertising possibilities.

Imagine the streets full of moving image benches. Imagine your next dinner party having seats displaying images of your family. – Or better yet, say you’re having a Hawaiian-theme party… or a ZOMBIE party – blood and guts everywhere!
