Posted: 27 Nov 2009 03:05 AM PST It's always nice to have a pretty vase with fresh flowers in it sitting in your living room. But what really impresses me, are not those typical Victorian or Ming sorts. I prefer the dare-to-be different ones, like this Adaptation Vases by Brandon Perhacs. A set of four glass tubes with a magnetic base that can tilt and slant on whim! Put in long stems of gorgeous blooms and play with the setting. Posted: 27 Nov 2009 01:30 AM PST Ever found yourself in a situation where you want to split the restaurant bill with your buddies, and all want pay by Credit Card. Like you want to get the calculations down to the last penny, or sip of Apple juice? Fret Not, if the Piece of Cake ever comes into existence, it'll give going Dutch with friends a whole new meaning. By using this device each one can pay for just what they ate using their CC. The screen displays the total items consumed and you select your share to be automatically calculated. I don't know whether I should be happy for the "Math" factor taken care of, or sad about the new notion of going Dutch. My time, we just split the bill evenly no matter who ate what!. Posted: 27 Nov 2009 01:00 AM PST With kids at home you do have to keep an assortment of shapes and sizes of band aid at home. More often than not, I use it for the placebo effect; a strip plaster round the superficial cut on the finger works better than any medicine, cuddling or kisses. The Long and Short Plaster does away with the need of stocking up assorted sizes and works like a tape dispenser. Cut out the right size and use it. Designers: Miyeon Kim & Hoyoung Lee |
Posted: 27 Nov 2009 12:15 AM PST How would you like to know that when it’s not the light of your life, your bulb is busy resting in it’s own lovely nest? That kind of peace of mind can be yours, now! With only a single steel sheet to cover it, this bulb’s next to a mother, but its only child is light. Each sheet of steel is made to be penetrated by light with micro-perforations. Open and closed at the same time. A nest is a place where a mama animal leaves its babies for short spans of time. Where the mother sits on the eggs of her offspring, and waits for them to hatch unto the world. The same is true of this bulb. In the bulb’s nest, the light is cradled, contained, and released upon the world. And best of all, these lamps create, and I quote, “evocative atmospheres.” That’s what’s up. Three Lamp Lights and a Top to Hold Posted: 27 Nov 2009 12:10 AM PST It’s not just one lightbulb, it’s three. It’s not just made out of metal, it’s got chords, too. This is a ceiling fixture if ever have I seen one. It’s made for functionality, but often with stripped-down efficiency comes aesthetically pleasing beauty. That’s how it is these days. And I love it. This lamp is made of re-purposed O.C. White industrial joints, vintage Hubbell sockets for the lights, and a bunch of new-cut steel. The axes on which the poles are situated allow for 360 degrees of rotation. The sockets that hold the bulbs each activate with a turn-key, each one being individually controlled. And it looks just so very elegant and nude. Designer: Workstead Design |
Posted: 27 Nov 2009 12:01 AM PST So you’re a cat person, but you don’t want to appear to be a “Crazy Cat Lady” (or man!) But your kitty cat, she just needs a nice place to sleep! What do you do? You probably go about buying something big, maybe a color you didn’t quite like, and hard to manage blending in with the rest of your decor. Well that’s just silly! You don’t go to the pet store to buy a pet bed, you go to the design store! You know that if you’re a design-conscious sort of person (and if you’ve reading this post, you are,) that your cat is one too! You’re cat isn’t a person (as far as I know,) but there’s certain things your cat will work with as well as things it simply wont. I’ve got a cat in my apartment. She belongs to my fiance, but she is her own kitty. This cat only really interacts with things that she loves. She likes cat toys, but she LOVES human things. She likes things that are bolted down, things that are a part of the apartment: the windows, the rugs (we’ve got hardwood floors,) the couch. She’s never enjoyed the “pet beds” that she’s been gifted. She loves things that belong to us. The humans. The Curve Pet Bed by fresh designer Akemi Tanaka IS that. It’s lookin so nice, and installs so seamlessly, heck, this kitty would sit on it all day long. Right up there on her pretty pretty perch. BONUS: Curve is also intent on holding small doggies too!
