Posted: 09 Dec 2009 06:48 AM PST The simply named Road Lights is a system of wind generated lane lights powered by the wind of vehicles whizzing by. You’ve all felt it before, that wall of air as a car passes by. Why waste it? The energy captured by the system illuminates a series of pegs 50-100 meters in front of you to lead the way. Eco-friendly (yes I’m still using that phrase) and a perfect opportunity for a really creative car commercial. Designers: Sungi Kim & Hozin Song |

Posted: 09 Dec 2009 04:27 AM PST "Beg Borrow or Steal", that's what I used to get to hear from my class teacher when I used to forget to bring my pencil box to class. Like most diligent girls in school I used to carry a sharpner, eraser, pens, pencils, and ruler. God forbid if you forgot a ruler and had to draw some lines! Like we tend to carry extra pencils or pens, but never rulers! Well this Ruler Pen is a helpful answer. Too bad no one thought of this during my school days. Also there is no cure for being forgetful! Designer: ShiKai Tseng |
Ten Amazing Products Available At The Yanko Design Store Posted: 09 Dec 2009 02:38 AM PST The common binding thread to this week's Top Ten is that they are products available at the YD Store. Ten really awesome and cool tangible goods that can make you house proud or work easier and efficient. Come take a look with me at Ten Amazing Products Available At The Yanko Design Store. 10) SmartSpace Food Dispenser is available for $47 at the YD Store Wall mounted and space saving, I would use this more for ornamental purposes. Like I would make crazy, colorful beans and grains patterns in this. 9) Setgo Arrival Money Clip is available for $60 at the YD Store This dual clip design is an elegant way for securing your credit cards, business cards and cash. 8 ) ArcTop 01 Notebook is available for $30 at the YD Store Pen and book both together are is always a winner in design for me. Most of the times you either have the paper or the pen! 7) Egg Pants is available for $20 at the YD Store This too cute and kinda reminds me of Humpty Dumpty! 6) 5 – Minute Candle (4 pack) is available for $6 at the YD Store Emergency handy lights…personified! 5) Wind Candle Holder (2) is available for $89 at the YD Store I prefer tea lights in holders to stand-alone candles. This Wind Candle Holder is elegant and pristine and fits the bill! 4) Magnetic Spice Rack is available for $44 at the YD Store Spices are important to Indian cooking and more important is the way we store them. If not stored correctly, they can lose their smell, flavor and color. It’s Simply An Acoustic Robot! Posted: 09 Dec 2009 01:28 AM PST Unabashed, unashamed of his thought process, designer TAN Lun Cheak is bold enough to admit that his Acoustic Robot is nothing but a figment of his imagination. He does not take aid of technology to promote his design. He teases us with words like fantasy, imagination, playfulness – just like a favorite toy. Tell me, are we really slaves to justifications and explanations all the time? Can't we for once let go and simply enjoy a transformed regular audio speaker? “I went to space one night in a dream. Battled an evil four-eyed robot. And I destroyed it by wrecking its brains out. I lugged its head back to earth as my trophy and replaced the brain with an ipod. Now it's my prized home audio system “ Designer: TAN Lun Cheak |
Posted: 09 Dec 2009 12:10 AM PST Hybrid! Its a hybrid! You can save a lot of gas money if you use this particular digging machine. It’s chock-full of the most modern simple things I’ve never seen implemented on a machine like this. A sliding counterweight, for example, what a fabulous idea! Sliding cabin – basically the same idea, again, why wasn’t this a feature for years now? And my favorite – independent articulation for the tracks. Excellent! The tracks, they can do anything. The cabin – oh you’re gonna like the cabin. Not only can it move independent (to a degree) of the rest of the machine, it’s got the most modern controls. Touch-screen interface and lovely, lovely knobs. And the seat is steady too! And would you look at those renderings? Those renderings are just excellent. Posted: 09 Dec 2009 12:01 AM PST What we’ve got here is a casual clothes rack that wonders why, since the body that the clothes are going to be on is all smooth surface and lumpy contents, why then, is the clothing hanger made to hold clothing flat? Well, probably to save space, right? Well heck, not every bit of clothing is meant to sit in a closet. Some articles are just so pretty they’ve gotta sit pretty on this “Lean” rack. Under the large wave is a hidden rod for those slightly-hangable bits, too. One lovely gesture for the casual draping of clothes. Designer: Dennis Cheng |
Posted: 09 Dec 2009 12:01 AM PST Yacht! I have several. Take a look at the fabulous boat in black and white. This particular yacht’s inspired by mid-engine sports cars. I also have several of those. Also in black and white. This yacht’s midships, 2 foldable coamings, and humongous slideable solon doors create a fantastic view area, 2 skylights, salon lounge, and a bright master cabin. Cruzin. This yacht right here’s made to “enhance living spaces” while it attempts a lovely new formal approach. So when you drink your fancy pants drinks in the meeting area in the center there, you’ve got to wear your formal sailor’s hat.
