LATTEA Design Contest – Coffee Cup Gets Personal Posted: 16 Dec 2009 06:50 AM PST A lot can happen over a cup of coffee. Being a design addict I still treasure this disposable coffee cup I was served in once. It's got this interesting Victorian painting depicted on it and it looks simply awesome. Posted: 16 Dec 2009 02:12 AM PST The concept behind the Shift Refrigerator is to save energy by minimizing the outflow of cool air. What it wants us to do is use a smaller compartment in the big fridge, on a regular basis. It will be trough this special door that you put your most used food items. The funda being, that when the refrigerator door is opened, cool air flows out and warm air flows in according to how wide the door was opened, resulting in increased use of electric power. The newer designs in refrigeration do consider this, but all said and done, it's an issue that cannot be resolved as long as we have kids using fridges. I mean, don't they just love to open the fridge and take in the cool air while digging into some jelly? So the size of the door or a special compartment will not really matter. But this idea is neat. Posted: 16 Dec 2009 01:00 AM PST The chair you’ve about to witness unfold is called the “O&O.” Now, don’t be fooled! It has nothing to do with cookies. In fact, it’s got such a wide cushion, I’d wager eating cookies aboard it might not be the best idea. This chair, designed and prototyped by Kataoka Design Studio, is made to just barely hold the user above their toes-touch-ground level, but low enough to keep comfort! You know what I’m saying? You sit in this gigantically-butted seat, and your whole leg sits straight, so straight that your feet are just barely off the ground. For some this can be unnerving. For those people, the seat is also set low to the ground for maximum gluteus maximus, tush, tail, and/or heinie relaxation. The chair gets it’s name from the consecutive curved surface which produces two “O” shapes, one right on top of the other. They’re like giant rings for the sonic child in you. Sweet Dreams Are Meant To Evolve Posted: 16 Dec 2009 12:02 AM PST You can bicker about its form, specs and sensibilities later, but first lemme give you the details on this awesome HTC evolve. It's a concept tablet computer that features a “concave side” ergonomic body design. It Features a stylus pen that will help to draw and execute renders in a practical and efficient way, especially if you use programs like Alias Sketchbook pro or Adobe Photoshop. An extra OLED touch screen with pre-programmable buttons pops out from the left side of the tablet, adding to the functionality. Features include:
Like I said sweet dreams are made of these. And they will be sweeter on an Apple, what do you think? Designer: Timur Pinar |
Posted: 16 Dec 2009 12:01 AM PST I command all bits of human-made matter to transmogrify into other bits of human made matter! First, I choose you, car, change yerself into a chair! I shall call thee, “ChAiR!” Get it? Both words. This chair right here was indeed designed with the car design process in mind. Take a peek at the different iterations and decide if you’d set these in your lobby, living room, or garage. Designed by Benjamin Claessen using processes he gleaned studying the steps toward building a car, these chairs have a bit of the ol’ thunder under the hood. I vote lobby of a garage that makes modifications to fabulous cars. Xzibit where you at? Designer: Benjamin Claessen |
Posted: 16 Dec 2009 12:01 AM PST It, all of those, all of those together, they’re called “Lihamo!” Get it? It’s the first two letters of all those words together! Designer Cho Hyung Suk took a single piece of material and basically perforated it to create a tri-fecta! Dissembled, this project creates a hanging mobile – also a hanger system for clothing, and a giant lamp! The lamp itself requires a bit of effort from a separate lighting source, but then again, you can just use it as a room divider too! And, and! Two two or three bits of furniture this creates ties the room together nicely! Designer: Cho Hyung Suk |
