The Business Of Re-potting Plants Posted: 13 Jan 2010 01:30 AM PST I'm not so updated with the green business, but I'm sure folks who have an active green thumb understand the nuances of “Re-potting a Plant” and the burden that comes with proper transfer of plants from one pot to the other. Re-flowerpot looks at doing away with the heartbreak of losing a sapling due to its incorrect transfer. The pot simply breaks-up into two parts, kinda like a mold for your soil and plant. Happy Re-potting to you! Designer: Hyunjun Kim |
Cargo Shipping With Care And Accuracy Posted: 13 Jan 2010 01:00 AM PST While working in the cargo bay for moving and shifting heavy loads with cranes, two things really bother the crew, one is their safety and the other is accurate transfer of the load. Addressing both these issues is the Safeguard Device. It's a contraption that attaches to the crane (as illustrated in the images). From it's height above, the device beams a laser graphic to the floor below, clearly marking the danger zone for the crew to avoid. The infrared helps in assisting the accurate transfer of the cargo from point A to B, thus eliminating the help of the ground crew. Posted: 13 Jan 2010 12:10 AM PST Two objects, both inspired by the famous car studio Pininfarina. Aerodynamical forms, fast and sporty. These lovelies come in two colors: fresh green (color of a life,) and scarlet (a traditional racing color.) Surfaces similar to racing auto varnish, nice to use, nice to race (if you’re into racing sinks, that is.) The objects in this line consist of a W.C. pan and a wash-basin. Both objects have wall-mounted installation systems, both objects are spectacularly shiny. Black and white mosaic wall not included. NOTE: A message from the designer(s):
Lovely and slick. Designer: Andrey Bondarenko of 2-B-2 Architecture |
Wetter Eyeballs for a Better World Posted: 13 Jan 2010 12:01 AM PST So you’ve gotta put drops in your eyes, yes? Perhaps you’ve got contact lenses or maybe you’re struggling with an eye infection. Your eyes are dry and you gotta get them wet. But for one reason or another, the way you’re doing it just isn’t cutting it! For that, there’s the “Pocket Eye.” This lovely card-sized eyedropper holds a cartridge, a container that holds one drop, an air sack, and a cap! You get that cartridge full of eyedrops. You wait until the one-drop container is full to capacity. You place the dropper on your face with the droplet in front of your eye. Bend your head back so the card is at a 90 degree angle. Press card so that one-drop container empties into your eye fully. Only thing I’m not sure about is that guide cylinder – what do you think, needed? Also- love those illustrations of the face. Fabulously simple. Designer: Jihyun Park |
Piezoelectricity Generation X! Posted: 13 Jan 2010 12:01 AM PST Electric polarization in a substance resulting from the application of mechanical stress – that’s what Piezoelectricity is. It’s used in these: Eco-Enegry Flooring System pads that use the pressure applied by people walking, running, rolling over to squeeze piezoelectric blocks. Upon squeezing, energy is generated and stored on a paper battery system. Then, THEN, the energy is used for, what else? LED lights! The pads are actually made up of 6 layers. On top, the upper housing is water resistant, sealed with ultra-sonic welding to prevent moisture from entering the lower levels. Next, there’s the OLED board to be programmed with letters, patterns, all kinds of stuff to be lit up by the power below. Below that, sponge material working as cushioning and distribution of force and pressure. Under that, the Piezoelectric board containing crystal boards to generatre the energy. Below that PCB board. Below that the Paper Battery to store the energy. Then the bottom, the lower housing, the part that touches the ground. Easy to transport, easy to use, basically perfect. Cost effective? That’d be awesome. Designer: Stephen Chan Wing Tak |
