Finding Aesthetic Appeal In A Viberator

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 01:15 AM PST

It's funny to note that god may have not thought of re-designing his original creation, but designers have surely taken upon themselves to improvise the organ, artificially. They added stimulating sensations and enhanced the shape; however the crux is that it's still a damn artificial stick! Evil Twins of Braun is a contrary belief for modernism; it's got this retro vibe that believes in being loud, bulky and kitsch. Doing what viberators are supposed to do, vibrate and satisfy; nothing else.

This Time It’s A Sexy Watch

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 01:00 AM PST

Besides it’s sexy looks, what I like most about the OXY Watch is that it's unisex. Routine specs like Time, Date, Calendar, and Alarm are included, but what makes it stand out is its gorgeous E-ink display. It's been conceived in several versions with stainless steel and colored leather strap combos, encasing a monochrome display with mineral glass. XKALIA Typography has been used to display the numerics, which really goes well with the styling.

Armadillo Head Protection

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 12:10 AM PST

A helmet that’s made to protect your head with the intelligent design of thousands of years of animal evolution. The armadillo (aka the Tatoo) has not one large shell, but many little plates for protecting it’s hide from danger. The Tatoo helmet uses not one giant piece of plastic and foam to protect the head, but many little ones, protection provided courtesy of EPP : expanded polypropylene.

Rapid assembly, low cost of production. The helmet stores flat for a fantastic improvement over the current standard for helmets, which are bigger than a head. Just unfold, clip each piece together, and slap it on the head! The entire helmet is made of polypropylene and can break down into entirely separate pieces for ease in recycling – or if you’re feeling really hipster that day, up-cycling.

Where do I sign up? I don’t even wear a helmet when I bicycle now (this is a very dangerous thing to do, I don’t recommend it,) but if these came out, I’d certainly be apt!

Materials: poplypropylene, polypropylene foam

Compass, Show Me The Light

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 12:10 AM PST

Stop right there! Why make a compass digital? Couldn’t I just find north using a real-deal analog compass? Why yes! But this compass right here doesn’t tell you north, south, east, and west, it tells you the direction you want to go! No more maps for you. No more reliance on the magnets of the world! No more even relying on the electricity of the world, this little puck right here has a dynamo for hand charging. How about that?

I know we’ve got some dynamo users out there, would you say this is really “dynamic?”

How do you say, “dynamotastic?”

This device is called the “Kompis,” and for lack of a more nutshelled way to say it: it’s a GPS mapmaker without the annoying lady voice (or Snoop Dogg voice) or visuals. It just works on lights. It does have some audio bits for the interface, but other than that: just a ring around the posy.

Configure either by programming locations in with your computer through a USB cable, or walk around and hit the “remember” button whenever you get to a place you’d like to sometime get back to. The light you see around that ring points in the general direction of your wanted location. It goes from blue to red in a gradient of colors showing how close or far you are from your desired location.

Easy to use, simple controls, simple look.

Fun for explorers!

Splendiferous Propeller-like Structure

Posted: 15 Jan 2010 12:01 AM PST

Kindness! In commemoration of 400 years of friendship between the Netherlands and New York, this fabulous building was constructed. For the public, the “New Amsterdam Plein & Pavillion” will provide info about upcoming events in the area as well as larger events in The Netherlands. It’ll also serve as a food an beverage outlet with seating on the outside. Feed and celebrate at this fantastic new landmark!

The roof and positively undulating sides shine with polished white. The whites of the roof and sides make for huge frames for the giant windows. The center oculus helps airflow with it’s polished aluminim grill work. The pavilion soon will be equipped with LED lights for a constantly changing light show, every night!

The LED show will be “an experience that will carry the animation and drama of the day into the evening”, says designer Ben van Berkel.

This building project is made possible by a grant from Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Battery Convervancy as part of the NY400 celebration. Four hundred years of pal’ing around! Good job folks!
