MP3 Player Karaoke Style, Thank You Korea Posted: 02 Sep 2009 07:10 AM PDT Queue up a line because if the ORIO were real, I can see loads of blokes and blokettes wanting it. The seemingly benign MP3 player doubles as a karaoke recorder. Squint your eyes real hard and think; how often do you sing along when listening to music? Why not record that and put it all over the interweb for people to see! The ORIO even draws from a database to show you realtime lyrics and you “green” enthusiasts will be happy to know, ORIO is completely made of biodegradable plastic. Ten Exciting And Unique Backpacks Posted: 02 Sep 2009 03:24 AM PDT Summer's up and as most of you design students must be getting ready to buy supplies for the new term. Before you head out for a new backpack, just browse through this prized collection. I know most of them are just concepts, but they are unique, exciting and desirable. 10) Reppo II Boombox backpack by Joonas Saaranen Here's how to look to like a cool kid with his music on the go. A hardshell backpack with built-in speakers, this ones gonna make you popular. 9) City Bag and City Briefcase by Jerome Olivet As expected of an apprentice of design master Philippe Starck, Jerome Olivet lives up to the reputation of "futuristic and abstruse" designing with this collection. The City Bag is what we are more interested in, and it scores well on the iPod and Mobile Phone compatibility front. 8 ) Velina Volante Backpack by Jannita van den Haak Styled for the ladies, this sexy, waterproof bag looks trendy and has pleated compartments to make more space. The cool pocket on top is detachable and doubles up as a evening bag. 7) Boxcooler Backpack Fridge by Sebastian Bertram Students are hungry ALL the time. So carry your food on campus in this suave Boxcooler Backpack which includes a fridge with picnic dishes. Let's binge! 6) Arrow Backpack by Notus Design With all the weight of books and supplies that you need to carry these days, a good spine-supporting backpack is a must. In fact I think it should be laid down as a ground rule. Arrow Backpack does this quite effectively. Support the spine. 5) Peach by Yen-Hsiang Skeet Wang No comments, but looks like some people with a good sense of humor may be able to pull-off this stunt. Sure become the Butt of a joke! Carga is a detour from the backpack countdown. But going by Long Tran's review it's of worthy mention. It's hard to find a good looking bag that can hold all the contents (junk included) we are so used to lugging along. Carga fits the bill; now only if we could have it as a backpack! 3) Modular Travel Bag by Teo Song Wei I like this bag, it comes with a basic skeleton and you add on modules that you only deem fit for the day. Nothing extra, only the basics. A backpack that withstands the vigor of city life. Hardshell, modular, ergonomic and what not; it comes in three sizes the urban day pack, the weekender, and the 5-day trekker - that quickly snap into the universal Flo frame. 1) Arret a Porter - Wearable Design by Jimin Kim Wicked design and yes this ain't a backpack, but a 'hands-free handbag' project. Let's see what's up her sleeve. |
Posted: 02 Sep 2009 12:08 AM PDT Perhaps, but who am I to argue with designers. I get this uncanny feeling that there is a deluge of cycle concepts floating around, so if you get bombarded by one too many concepts, please bear with us. And what have we here; an urban cycle that can be toned down to save space when not in use. Why? Urbanites don't have spacious homes, and those who do…they don't need bikes, they use shiny cars. The design consists of 2 systems: Wheel folding system & Bike Structure System. Eco // 07 – Compactable Urban Bicycle Wheel folding system The Wheel is composed of six modules, each one has a double pivot in the joints, this allows the wheel to fold and become smaller, the spokes are contained in the inner structure of the wheel, when you unfold the system, the spokes rotate to the center of the mechanism where it attaches to the center of the wheel. Bike Structure System The double triangle structure is composed of expandable modules, each one collapses to a smaller dimension and then this modules aligns with the rotation of the axis in the joint of the structure. A special X aligns all the modules to their position. Designer: Victor Aleman |
Posted: 02 Sep 2009 12:01 AM PDT Certianly yummy, really and truly called the “Sweet Seating” collection by ice-cream lover Sander van der Haar. Made to remind the user of delectable sweet candy, these soft-serve seats and pillows have what the sugar-addict calls absolute pleasure. They’re durable and delicious. Dipped in a variety of colors and filled with cheer. So this set of furniture is basically ready-made for the cloudy soft home of the cartoon Care Bears, but that’s not a bad thing! They’d make a lovely addition to any interior, goodness forbid the cute overload of having the whole set decorate your living room! And you KNOW Veruca Salt has here candy-scarfing eyes on those hard-rolled-looking head softners. So scrumptious! …and kawaii ++ !!! Designer: Sander van der Haar |
Posted: 02 Sep 2009 12:01 AM PDT So the fine folks at high fashion brand Vivienne Tam decided they needed something special for their 2009 VIP customers. So they spoke with the Kit Men. The Kit Men said hay let’s make some real “technology art” and whip up a really hot mp3 player with some sass. And so they did. Really this is gorgeous. The red reflects one of the commonly strewn colors in the 2009 Vivienne Tam Spring collection. The shape “shows [the] beautiful organic form of a female’s body, which is sexy and appealing.” Of course this is part of a very objective project outline. However this is lovely. It is a bit of exquisite design in technology normally only reserved for the mathematically perfect eyes and hands of the folks at Apple. But here it is. Like a lock of lipstick hair. Very shiny and nice and exclusive. Designer: Kit Men |
Posted: 01 Sep 2009 11:56 AM PDT Pugin! This thing is designed by Matthias Pugin! Kinda like plugin, which is what you’ll have done once you experience this clock. Made out of magic, aka magnets controlling metal bars which make up the surface of the clock, move about creating what appears to be a clock whose face, though analog, seems to perform a complicated movement task. The steampunk gang will be happy if this little diddy renders out nice enough! Take a peek at the video and lemme know if it’ll blend. I mean toast. I mean float. I mean work! On the other hand I bet Matthias Pugin already has one on hand, right? Designer: Matthias Pugin |
